Classes were suspended on Wednesday, Apr. 17 because of the weather forecast.

Classes in Oman Expected to Resume on Thursday, Apr. 18

Schools across Oman are expected to resume on Thursday, Apr. 18, despite thunderstorms forecasted on Wednesday, Apr. 17 as well. 

The forecast led to the suspension of classes in academic institutions across all governates except for Dhofar and Al Wusta on Wednesday.

The relentless rainfall in the Sultanate has led the death toll to reach 19 and authorities in Oman are tirelessly working to rescue citizens and residents and take them to safe zones. 

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) carried out two operations in Muscat and North Al Sharqiyah, airlifting individuals to the nearest medical facilities. 

The Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources is managing the water levels of dams across various governates to reduce the impact of harsh weather conditions. 

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has advised the public to avoid crossing wadis and all low-lying areas during these weather conditions.
