Heavy Rainfall Expected in These Parts of Oman

Heavy rainfall is likely over some governorates of the Sultanate of Oman on Saturday, May 27th, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The CAA has issued a thunder rain alert, to be in effect from 11:30 am to 9 pm on Saturday, May 27th.

According to the CAA's predictions, mountainous areas over the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah and South Al Batinah, as well as parts of Muscat, and coastal areas of Oman Sea will be affected by heavy rainfall ranging between 15-30mm.

Citizens and residents can expect strong downdraft winds (35-65 knots), with the possibility of poor horizontal visibility due to dust rising during the rainfall.

Heavy rainfall may also lead to flash wadis.

Oman Meteorology has urged people to stay away from low places and wadis and to not attempt to swim in wadis.
