Oman Unveils Hybrid-Electric Plane for City Travel

Oman is taking a bold step into the future of transportation with a new partnership between LYNEports, a global leader in vertiport planning, and AeroVecto, the country’s first developer of hybrid-electric VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft.

At the core of this collaboration is Shuttle, AeroVecto’s flagship aircraft. It’s designed to offer short-range, high-capacity flights within and between cities, perfect for cutting down long road commutes and making public transport faster, smarter, and greener.

This isn't just about cool new aircraft. Together, LYNEports and AeroVecto are building a smart, scalable urban air mobility network tailored to Oman’s needs. The goal? To make fast, clean, and safe air commuting a real option for everyday travel in cities like Muscat, Sohar, and Salalah.

LYNEports Brings the Infrastructure

While AeroVecto handles the aircraft, LYNEports is stepping in to design the digital backbone. Using its AI-powered platform, LYNEports will simulate and plan a network of vertiports, landing zones for Shuttle, that meet the highest safety and aviation standards.

This includes:

  • Smart site selection
  • Airspace modeling
  • Environmental impact analysis
  • Seamless integration with existing transport systems

All of this means that once Shuttle is ready to fly, the infrastructure will be ready too.

Designed for Oman’s Environment

Unlike generic aircraft, Shuttle is built with GCC climate conditions in mind. It’s engineered for resilience, comfort, and efficient operation, even in the region’s high heat and diverse terrain.

Fahad Al Riyami, CEO of AeroVecto, said,

“Our vision is to make high-capacity aerial commuting a practical and sustainable reality for cities across Oman and the GCC.”

Supporting Oman’s Vision 2040

This project isn’t just innovative, it’s aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040, which focuses on green mobility and smart city development. The first phase will include feasibility studies and simulations for major urban corridors, with long-term plans to expand the network nationwide.

Rasha Alshami, CEO of LYNEports, said,

“We’re excited to support AeroVecto in bringing their innovative vision to life. Their focus on solving real public transport challenges aligns perfectly with our mission.”

What This Means for Travelers in Oman

If all goes to plan, Oman could soon be a leader in urban air mobility. Imagine skipping traffic and hopping on a short flight between city zones, without the noise, emissions, or high costs of traditional air travel.

This partnership has the potential to reshape how people move across Oman and maybe, one day, the entire Gulf region.
