Historic Marriage for Modern Oman
Crown Prince Theyazin is the first in Oman's modern history to officially hold the title of Crown Prince, following a 2021 amendment to the Basic Law. His bride, Alya, comes from a prominent family, her uncle is the governor of Muscat.
Engagement and Past Marriage
The marriage comes after an engagement announcement made by Theyazin’s aunt earlier this year. Previously, the Crown Prince was married to his cousin, Mayan bint Shihab Al Said, but they separated in early 2022 without a public statement.
Academic and Professional Background
Educated in the UK, Crown Prince Theyazin earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master’s in history from the University of Oxford, before graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and currently serves as Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth.
