Oman's NCEM Orders Evacuation in Parts of Dhofar Ahead of Cyclone Tej

The National Committee for Emergency Management in Oman has ordered the evacuation of the residents of Hallaniyat Islands and coastal areas in the wilayats of Salalah, Rakhyut, and Dhalkot in preparation for dealing with the tropical cyclone Tej.

All measures will be taken to provide them with the necessary resources and capabilities in places expected to be affected by the tropical storm in the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, said Hassan Mohsin al Shraiqi, the Chairman of the Committee.

Oman's Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) previously confirmed its readiness to deal with Tej.

The CDAA has put its departments in the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates on alert to respond to the effects that may result from the storm. The departments have been reinforced with manpower and vehicles designated for search and rescue operations.
