The Sultanate has experienced more than 700 infections a day of COVID-19 cases this month with the number of infections crossing 100,000. Therefore, Oman’s supreme committee responsible for COVID-19 has ordered a two-week night curfew to hopefully reduce the rise in cases.

As said in the statement, all beaches in the country will remain shut until further notice. The 8pm to 5am curfew came into effect yesterday, October 11, and will continue until October 24.

Adding “The Supreme Committee urges all, particularly young people, to fully abide by precautionary measures at the individual and collective level. All should refrain from family and social gatherings,”

All businesses and activities must strictly adhere to the new guidelines that have been imposed for the next two weeks as requested by the Supreme Committee handling the COVID-19 otherwise the necessary action will take place.

The committee also called on residents to stop holding family and social gatherings, adding that “relevant authorities will take all legal measures against the violators.”
