Oman Suspends All Drone and Aerial Activity Permits Indefinitely

Oman has suspended all permits for drones and aerial activities with immediate effect, the Civil Aviation Authority announced Tuesday. The measure is a precautionary step to safeguard national airspace.

Who is Affected

The suspension applies to all drones, whether governmental, commercial, or recreational. It also covers paragliding, paramotors, aerial sports aircraft, and other aviation-related sporting activities and events across the country.

During the suspension, no new permits will be issued, and operating any of these activities is strictly prohibited until further notice.

Reason for Suspension

The CAA described the move as a temporary precautionary measure to enhance safety, prevent unauthorized aerial activity, and maintain the highest standards of aviation security.

Officials said the decision comes amid heightened regional tensions and recent security incidents involving drones in parts of the Gulf, including attacks on infrastructure in Oman, though no specific event was directly cited.

Ongoing Review

Authorities emphasized that the situation will be continuously reviewed, with further decisions taken based on developments. Full compliance from individuals, companies, and relevant entities is required to ensure airspace safety and security.
