Permit Required to Enter Khor Kharfoot Reserve in Oman

The Environment Authority (EA) in Oman said it is prohibited to enter the Khor Kharfoot Archaeological Reserve in Dhofar Governorate without pre-permit.

Everyone entering the reserve without a prior permit is a legal violation punishable by law, noting that permits to enter the reserve are granted by the Directorate General of Environment in Dhofar Governorate only due to special conditions according to a Law on Natural Reserves and Wildlife Conservation to establish the Khor Kharfoot Archaeological Reserve in Dhofar Governorate.

Khor Kharfoot Archaeological Reserve is located between the wilayats of Rakhyut and Dhalkut in Dhofar Governorate on the coast of the Arabian Sea. The reserve covers an area of ​​143.4 km2 and is within the mountainous geographical area in Dhofar Governorate, which is affected by the annual monsoon (Khareef) rains with the prevalence of subtropical climate.
