A heatwave is sweeping over large portions of Oman, with Sohar recording a high of 47 degrees on Sunday.

The temperature was predicted to reach a high of 47° yet again in locations like Suwaiq and Madha, and 46° in Rustaq, according to the weather bulletin issued by the Met Department for the day.

The temperature on Monday in the Muscat governorate was 44 degrees in Amerat and Bausher and approximately 45 degrees in Seeb. After Sohar, Liwa had the highest temperature on Sunday (46.7°), followed by Wadi al Maawil (46.1°), Saham (45.6°), Shinas, Suwaiq, and Amerat (45.5°), and Hamra ad Duru (45.4°), according to the Met.

The majority of the governorates were expected to have clear skies on Tuesday, with the possibility of dust storms over the desert and open areas as well as low-lying clouds or patches of fog over some of South Sharqiya, Al Wusta, and Dhofar governorates in the late night to early morning.

The Met stated, "The rise in maximum temperatures continues and may exceed the mid-40s in some areas in the governorates of North Batinah, South Batinah, Muscat, and the desert areas of the governorates of Dhahirah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar."
