Khareef Season 2023 in Dhofar Governorate Set to Start

Khareef season ('Autumn' in Arabic) 2023 astronomically will start on Wednesday, June 21st, in the Dhofar governorate of Oman and will last until September 21st.

It causes the lands to become covered in green, the hills to be surrounded by white fog, and light rain to drizzle almost 24 hours a day in Dhofar and its capital city Salalah.

This is unlike the extreme hot weather in the rest of Oman from July to September.

Between wadis, mountains, crystal seas, golden beaches and sandy deserts, there is nothing that turns Oman into a stunning paradise quite like khareef season in Salalah.

Wadi Darbat is one of the most famous and the most beautiful wadis in Dhofar during khareef season when it is completely covered with green vegetation.

Wadi Darbat also has a big beautiful lake, green mountains that are surrounded with white fog, and amazing waterfalls.

Another amazing place to enjoy the natural beauty of Salalah during Khareef season is the beach at Al Mughsail, with its dramatic coastline and crashing waves.

This kind of weather attracts lots of visitors and tourists. The number of visitors to the Khareef season in Dhofar last year was about 813,000, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
