Environment Authority Invites Bids to Develop Al Saleel National Park

Environment Authority (EA) has re-issued a design and supervision consultancy tender for developing Al Saleel National Park in Ash Sharqiyah South to support the national economy and benefit from the natural reserves in the country.

The move also comes in an effort to attract visitors while also conserving wildlife.

Bid submission for the tender closes on April 9th, 2023.

The authority launched the bid for the first time in June 2022.

Located between Sur to Al Kamil Highway, Al Saleel Natural Park is one of the largest wildlife reserves in the Middle East spreading over 220 square kilometers.

It includes three distinct geographical terrains; alluvial plains featuring a wide variety of acacia and gum trees, vast valleys that split the mountains, and hills.

The park is also home to seven percent of the global herd of Arabian Gazelle, in addition to wild cats, Arabian wolves, red foxes, and Egyptian eagles, among a variety of turtles and birds.

Oman has designated it as a reserve to protect indigenous vegetation and wildlife, and is studying over 50 other natural sites to preserve biological diversity and promote ecotourism.
