Oman to Cut Summer Power Bills for Residents This Summer

Oman will be giving households a break on their electricity bills during the scorching summer months of May to August 2025. The Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) confirmed that discounted rates will apply to basic residential accounts to help ease the financial burden caused by high seasonal usage.

Tiered discounts based on usage

The rate reductions will vary depending on how much electricity a household uses each month:

May 2025:

  • 0 to 4,000 kWh – 15% discount

  • 4,001 to 6,000 kWh – 10% discount

  • Above 6,000 kWh – 5% discount

June to August 2025:

  • 0 to 4,000 kWh – 20% discount

  • 4,001 to 6,000 kWh – 15% discount

  • Above 6,000 kWh – 10% discount

No disconnections, flexible payments allowed

To protect residents during the hot months, the APSR has also told electricity providers not to cut off service for basic account holders. In addition, households will be allowed to delay bill payments, following existing regulatory guidelines.

Extra support for eligible residents

Authorities are also reminding citizens and residents who meet specific criteria to register for the National Subsidy System. The program offers additional financial assistance to those with qualifying income and residency status.

These summer measures are part of the government’s wider efforts to maintain service stability and support consumer welfare when demand for electricity spikes.
