Tourist Dies After Mountain Fall in Oman's Jabal Samhan

Oman’s Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority confirmed on Monday that a tourist lost his life after slipping from a steep slope in Jabal Samhan, Dhofar Governorate.

Rescue and ambulance teams, supported by local citizens in the Wilayat of Mirbat, rushed to the scene following reports of the accident. The tourist, described as a mountain climbing enthusiast, suffered severe injuries from the fall. Despite swift rescue efforts, he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have renewed calls for citizens, residents, and visitors to exercise caution when exploring Oman’s rugged mountains—especially during the Khareef season, when heavy rains turn trails dangerously slippery. “It’s vital to adhere to preventive guidelines to avoid accidents in these conditions,” the Civil Defence emphasized.

Tourism in Dhofar peaks during Khareef, a season that transforms the region into a lush, green paradise. The rains cloak the mountains in vibrant greenery, drawing both domestic and international visitors eager to experience its breathtaking landscapes.
