Himam Mountain Race Gears Up for Fifth Edition in Oman

The adrenaline-pumping Himam Mountain Running Race is back for its fifth season, taking place from December 5 to 7, 2024, across four scenic wilayats in Oman’s Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, this event has grown into a cornerstone of the region’s sports tourism scene.

Drawing over 1,000 athletes from 65 countries, with 40% hailing from outside Oman, the race highlights its ever-expanding global reputation. Runners will tackle three challenging tracks—110 km, 55 km, and 20 km—testing their stamina amidst Oman’s rugged mountain landscapes, with trails winding through Nizwa, Izki, Al Hamra, and Al Jabal Al Akhdar.

Complementing the main race, a series of community-focused events will run on December 6 and 7. These include shorter races, ranging from 1 km to 10 km, encouraging participation from schoolchildren and families. Additionally, a dedicated exhibition will spotlight small and medium enterprises, blending sports with local economic growth.

More than just a test of endurance, the Himam Mountain Race champions Oman’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and burgeoning role in global sports tourism. This event not only boosts tourism but also provides economic benefits to the local community, creating jobs and enhancing commercial opportunities in the host regions.

Whether you're an athlete or a spectator, Himam Mountain Race 2024 promises breathtaking views, cultural immersion, and an unforgettable sporting experience.
